The best tips for buying a heavy karate uniform

Want to replace your old karate uniform with something a little more "fancy" and think of a heavier canvas uniform?

If this is your first canvas uniform, there are some points you might want to consider.

1. First, although described as "canvas", the vast majority of canvas uniforms on canvas are labeled 100% cotton. Before you feel cheated by it, you need to know that these uniforms are definitely canvas and that you will not be swindled ... they are a cotton canvas. Wikipedia has it on the canvas ... 'Modern canvases are usually made of cotton or linen, although historically made of hemp. It differs from other heavy cotton fabrics, such as denim, because it is simple fabric instead of twill fabric.

2. You don't have to be a genius to know that the heavyweight in karate owes its thicker substance and the extra obvious weight.

The 12 oz and 14 oz karate canvas uniforms are the most widely used in the heaviest weights.

If you are wearing a lightweight, 8 oz. Polyester or 100% cotton uniform, you will notice the difference when you start wearing a canvas uniform, but you will be quickly used and you will love it.

3. If you're looking for a super heavy karate uniform, then 16 oz or 18 oz is for you. These are tough and durable uniforms. If you are new to martial arts training or have not tried the canvas before, this may not be your best option; they are more suitable for experienced practitioners and instructors.

4. Another point to remember is that although these uniforms are made of a durable fabric, they are specifically designed for different styles of karate, but they are not suitable for judo, grip or any martial arts involving grabbing the uniform and throw the opponent. These styles need specially designed and reinforced ju-jitsu or judo uniforms.

5. All karate canvas uniforms are sold without belts, it's the same everywhere, no matter what brand you buy. If you need a belt, it is a good idea to buy it while buying your uniform.

6. Many brands of carat uniforms in the canvas are made with the traditional treadmill in the pants, not with the elastic waistband found in lightweight uniforms, so be sure to know what you are getting. There is nothing wrong with any of the styles, it is just a personal choice. Some people prefer the traditional cord, though it can twist around the waist and get stuck, and others prefer the elastic, though it may feel clumsy. Do you see what I mean? This is your personal choice!

6. The cost of a heavy Tokaido karate uniform varies greatly depending on the weight of the canvas and the brand. As expected, the heavier the uniform weight, the more expensive it is. The same goes for the brand name, internationally known brands are more expensive, so it is worth looking for smaller companies that offer the same product. They are out there trying to build a reputation, so you generally find that they offer excellent products and services.
